This Cookie Policy explains how TScribe uses cookies and similar browser storage on the tscribe.io website and in the TScribe application at app.tscribe.io. We keep our use of these technologies minimal and purposeful.
1. What are cookies
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser when you visit a website. They let the site remember information about your visit, such as whether you are signed in. Similar technologies include localStorage, sessionStorage and IndexedDB, which are browser storage mechanisms rather than cookies sent over HTTP.
2. On the website (tscribe.io)
The marketing website uses Google Analytics (gtag.js) to measure how many people visit and which pages they read. Google Analytics sets cookies such as _ga and _ga_* containing a random identifier to distinguish visitors. These are not linked to your TScribe account and never see clinical content. Google's handling of this data is described in Google's privacy policy. You can block these cookies in your browser without affecting the website.
3. In the application (app.tscribe.io)
The application uses a small number of strictly necessary cookies and no advertising or tracking cookies.
- Session cookie: keeps you signed in during a session. Essential for the service to function.
- Security token: protects form submissions from cross-site request forgery. Strictly necessary.
The application also collects anonymous usage analytics (screens visited, feature interactions) to improve the product. These are not linked to patient data.
4. Local storage
The application and the browser extension use your browser's storage to keep your preferences (such as the editor font), templates that you have not chosen to sync, and drafts of recordings so that a crash or a lost connection does not lose a dictation. This data stays on your device and is not sent to our servers except when you ask for a recording to be transcribed. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data; doing so also clears unsynced templates and unsent drafts.
5. Third-party cookies
We do not embed advertising networks or social media pixels on any TScribe page. The only third-party cookies are those set by Google Analytics on the website, described above. Fonts are served from tscribe.io.
6. Your choices
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking the application's session cookie will prevent sign-in from working. Blocking analytics cookies will not affect TScribe. Instructions for managing cookies are in your browser's help documentation.
